About
Pulmonologist (1992), PhD in Medicine (2000), Diploma in Biostatistics (2004), European Certification in Respiratory Medicine (HERMES) in 2009 and Associate Professor in Universitat de Barcelona (2015-2019), he has held the position of Chief of Respiratory Endoscopy Unit of the Hospital Universitari de Bellvitge (Barcelona) between 2005 and 2018, and now he is the Clinical Director of the Thorax Institute – Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital (Barcelona). He has been the introducer in Spain of endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), autofluorescence bronchoscopy and the non-electromagnetic navigation system and is a referral in interventional bronchoscopy. He is a researcher at the Pulmonology Group of the Germans Trias Research Institute (IGTP) and the CIBER of respiratory research network. He has made short stays in international hospitals and research centers (Amsterdam, Heidelberg, Lille and Vancouver) between 1998 and 2013. He participates as a reviewer of research projects of the Spanish Ministry of Health (Carlos III Institute), various public health agencies and international journals. He has published 16 articles in Q1, with an index in Research Gate of 38.08, h-Index of 15. He is co-author of 3 patents, in collaboration with the Universtat Politècnica de Catalunya and the Institut Químic de Sarrià, as well as co-founder of the spin-off Adbroncus (2011) and Tractivus (2015). He is recently become consultant for Tarsio, a start-up originated in the Hospital Germans Trias (2019). He is the Principal Investigator of 6 competitive national projects in the last 10 years, in which he has counted biologists (PEBC-IDIBELL), engineers (UPC), mathematicians (CVC) and chemists (IQS) as co-investigators. He is currently co-investigator in a transfer project for the validation of an automated real-time endoscopic image calculation system led by the Computer Vision Center (CVC-UAB). He has chaired the 3rd European congress of the EABIP (European Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology) in 2015 and is vice president of the next World Conference of Lung Cancer (WCLC) in September 2019 in Barcelona.
